4-Star QB prospect Connor Neville dishes on his recruitment, Boise State

Boise State 2017 4-star quarterback prospect Connor Neville took some time out of his busy high school schedule on Monday to dish to the Bronco Nation faithful on his recruitment and more.

HOW ARE YOU FEELING ABOUT YOUR BOISE STATE OFFER RIGHT NOW?

Connor Neville: “It feels amazing right now, the thing that makes it feel most special is that I am the only recruit in my grade that holds that offer (as a quarterback

WHAT NFL PLAYER DO YOU MOST TRY TO MODEL YOUR GAME AFTER?

CN: “I try to have a lot of fun when I play, but I also know there are times to be serious as well. I really model myself to Cam Newton and Russell Wilson. They both are great pocket passers and get the ball out very quick, but also make plays with their feet when it is necessary.”

WHEN ARE YOU EXPECTING TO VISIT BOISE AGAIN?

CN: “I am not sure when I will be back to visit Boise I have to talk with my parents, hopefully soon though”

WHAT DOES BEING A LEADER MEAN TO YOU?

CN: “The most common definition that quarterbacks give is making others around you (better), because you are only as the personnel. That to me is a small portion of it, what it really means to me is being a good teammate on and off the field, always setting a good example, doing the things that make yourself better when no one is looking, and having the trust of your teammates when you’re losing by 14 with 4 minutes left in the game that you will bring them back to win it, giving confidence in others when they need it.”

WHAT IS YOUR FOOTBALL SCHEDULE LIKE RIGHT NOW AND GOING INTO SPRING/SUMMER?

CN: “Right now I am getting myself ready for Elite 11/The Opening, as well getting stronger and faster, right now I am lifting five times a week with my trainer Aaron Woods. And in summer continue to work hard to have a very explosive senior year.”

WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP LIKE WITH COACH HARSIN?

CN: “Coach Harsin and I are pretty close, he goes out of his way to write me a letter and to message me just to check up.”

WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP LIKE WITH COACH DRINKWITZ?

CN: “Coach Drink and I are very close, we used to talk on the phone a lot and we try when we can, I like him very much.”

WHAT ARE YOUR TEAM GOALS FOR YOUR TIME IN COLLEGE?

CN: “My team goals are to take each game at a time and focus on each opponent like it is the national championship, which is the team goal.”

WHAT ARE YOUR INDIVIDUAL GOALS FOR YOUR TIME IN COLLEGE?

CN: “My individual goal is to be good enough to play in the NFL one day.”

WHEN ARE YOUR EXPECTING TO NARROW DOWN YOUR COLLEGE CHOICES OR ANNOUNCE A COMMITMENT?

CN: “Right now I am not looking to narrow down any colleges which means I am in no rush to decide where I will play college football at. It really depends on if I get other offers. I would think about committing at the end of my junior or sometime my senior year. It is looking like I will committing later..”

WHAT PERSONAL SKILL OR ATTRIBUTE DO YOU TAKE THE MOST PRIDE IN?

CN: “Everybody knows that I am that kid from Oregon with the strong arm and great feet, but there are really 2 things I take pride in: being the smartest and most prepared football player I can be, knowing what defense and all the weaknesses to exploit the team we play that week, and getting rid of the ball quickly because of being smart and prepared.

Most quarterbacks in high school, even some of the best, struggle getting rid of the ball quickly and I think I am the best at doing that. The second thing I really take pride in is being the thoughts player on the field. Many people do not know this, but I tore my PCL in my right knee in the first quarter of the fourth game of the year.

I missed three games including that one, I also severely sprained my MCL in my left knee in the first quarter of the semifinals and played the rest of the post season with both of those injuries. Also, (I take pride in) taking big hits after throwing the ball, because of this injury I had to learn to become a complete pocket quarterback and I took a lot of big hits this year.”
