Arkansas 4-Star DE John Tate dishes on his recruitment, Boise State

I caught up with Boise State 4* DE target John Tate on Monday. The 6’4″, 258lb Pine Bluff, Arkansas product is fresh off of back-to-back Arkansas 6A state football championships and took time out of his evening to dish on a variety of interesting topics for the Bronco Nation faithful.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON YOUR TEAM’S PERFORMANCE THIS SEASON?

John Tate: “My team’s performance was great, we played as a team and played like we (have) been playing with eachother for a long time, which is true. We (have) been playing since the 7th grade and when we (became) seniors, our chemistry was great. We were so close we could tell each other’s next move, and we trusted each other, and it lead us to back to back state championships.”

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON YOUR OWN PERFORMANCE SO FAR THIS SEASON?

JT: “I thought I was a great team player. I thought I was unselfish and really lead the team along with other players. I felt that my senior season and how I played was great. I paid attention to the details more and really got after it on defense, it was a very fun year.”

WHAT ARE YOUR GENERAL THOUGHTS ON BOISE STATE?

JT: “Boise is a great school, I always watched them play when I was younger. I remember the game when they played Oklahoma and won in overtime. Boise is a great school and have great coaches.”

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON KAMALEI CORREA’S SEASON?

JT: “He is a great player and he made a lot of plays this year, a very good player in my opinion.”

YOUR FRIEND DAMAREA CROCKETT HAS BEEN RECRUITING YOU PRETTY HARD, HOW IS THAT GOING?

JT: “Damarea has been recruiting me hard (*laughs*). You see it on Twitter all the time, he’s always texting and telling me about (Boise).”

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO YOU TO GET TO ATTEND COLLEGE WITH HIM?

JT: “I think it would be good cause we (have known) each other since we were little, we played AAU basketball and I used to block his shot all the time (*laughs*). So we started going to camps together and just started to stay in touch.”

WHAT NFL PLAYER DO YOU TRY TO MODEL YOUR GAME AFTER?

JT: “I would try to model it like JJ Watt cause he is aggressive and he is a great football player.”
