Donte Deayon waived by Giants

Even though he made quite the impression on the New York Giants coaching staff, the Giants have decided to waive former Boise State defensive back Donte Deayon, according to Giants Beat writer Patricia Traina.

Deayon was one of the 15 players that were waived on Saturday.

Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo had some high praise for the former Bronco, during his time working with him.

Excerpt via Dan Salomone of Giants.com on June 18th:

“Now he’s 155 pounds or whatever, but I reminded him that power is mass times speed,” Spagnuolo said of Deayon. “So if he goes really fast, he’s just as powerful. Look, he’s a joy to work with. He made another big play down in the end zone [on Thursday]. He’s been making plays all year. He loves football. He gets football. He has what I call football ‘get-it’ and he’s really smart and he competes. So he’s got a chance.”

Unfortunately that chance may have to come a little later for Deayon. There may opportunity he lands on the practice squad, but until then, we can expect Deayon to work as hard as he did at Boise State to make his dreams a reality.
