Boise State Hoops picked to finish middle of the pack in MWC

We’re almost half way into the Boise State Football season, and that means that college basketball is right around the corner.

Today the Mountain West Conference released their preseason media poll today.

At the top of the Mountain West Conference is to no surprise, Steve Fisher’s San Diego State. Followed by Nevada and New Mexico. The Broncos found themselves in the middle of the pack at No. 5 behind Fresno State.

The Boise State Basketball team is somewhat of an unknown this year due to the departure of James Webb III, Anthony Drmic, and Mikey Thompson. Forward Nick Duncan is back for his senior campaign, and there are a few returners that saw some playing time last season with Paris Austin, Chandler Hutchison and Zach Haney.

All four of those players will have some big shoes to fill. The three top scorers from last season all averaged over double digits. The lone player that is back that averaged double digits is Nick Duncan (11.6ppg). Followed by Hutchison’s 6.8ppg.

It may be some growing pains throughout the season, but the future looks bright with the young players. Specifically Alex Hobbs, and Pocatello native Malek Harwell.

Boise State’s first official game of the season is against Northwest University on November 12th at 2:00PM, at Taco Bell Arena.
