Boise State Lands Defensive Commit Breydon Boyd from Texas

Over the years, the Broncos have been successful in their recruiting trips to Texas.

Some of these Texas grown talents include: D.J. Harper, Ben Weaver and most notably, Jay Ajayi.

The most recent Texas commit is linebacker, Breydon Boyd.

Boyd hails from Katy, Texas which is where he played his high school football. In 2o15, the Katy high school football program went 16-0 claiming the Class 6A, Division II football championship.

The 6’4″, 215 pound Boyd specializes on the defensive side of the ball. He’s a versatile player whose strengths fall at both inside and outside linebacker.

Both 247 Sports and Scout.com have Boyd listed as a three-star recruit.

Scout.com noted that Boyd is a well-rounded football player whose strengths include run stopping and tackling technique.

The Broncos graduated all three of their starting linebackers from last season: Tanner Vallejo, Darren Lee, and Ben Weaver. This could mean Boyd might see some significant playing time in the upcoming season.

Boyd will come into a line backing core lead by soon-to-be senior, Joe Martarano.

Other returners include: Blake Whitlock, Leighton Vander Esch, and Tyson Maeva.
