Boise State lands explosive CA wide receiver Derrion Grim

Wide receiver Derrion Grim has committed to Boise State today. The junior in high school is from McNair High School located in Stockton, California.

247Sports has Grim rated as a three star recruit as well as a solid composite score of 85.

Grim is a wide receiver who is standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing in at 193 pounds. He announced his commitment via Twitter today.

He was in Boise visiting this past weekend during one of Boise State’s Junior Days. During his time in the Treasure Valley, the Boise State coaching staff extended an offer to Grim. His first FBS offer.

“Right when Coach Harsin offered me the scholarship I wanted to (commit), but I knew I needed to talk to my parents and God before I did,” said Grim.

According to MaxPreps, Grim is averaging over 18 yards a catch and over 120 yards a game. Grim’s stats are well over the national average in many categories.

When asked which Boise State wide receiver he looked up to on the gridiron, it was Titus Young, arguably the most explosive receiver to come through Boise.

Grim is all too familiar with Boise State and their tradition winning the Fiesta Bowl, when asked what winning one of those would be like he responded, “It would mean a lot! I would get to show my dad and tell him ‘I’m one step better than you’ and get to laugh about it.”

To improve his impressive numbers next season he says the process has already begun, “running routes, catching balls, conditioning, lifting, and footwork drills” are all things Grim is continuing to work on.
