Boise State Tops UNLV in Overtime

The Bronco men’s basketball team put their undefeated home record to the test Saturday night against the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels.

In their last match up, the Broncos beat the Rebels 83-74 in Vegas.

Lead by senior leader Chandler Hutchison, who had a game-high 32 points, the Broncos secured a tough road victory.

Heading into their second match up of the season, and last guaranteed meeting for both schools, the final regulation buzzer simply wasn’t enough.

Leon Rides a Horse

It seems like Coach Rice will do just about anything for his squad. In order to entice the fans to come out to Saturday’s game, Rice promised to ride a horse around campus if it sold out.

Rice was true to his word as the head coach galloped around campus the day before the game.

Hustle Plays Reward Bronco Men’s Team

For this squad, it seems like their best ball, specifically on offense, is played when the tempo is quick. They excel at fast tempo, transition basketball.

Against the Rebels, the Bronco defense typically double teamed UNLV star Brandon McCoy. If they could pressure McCoy, and get a turnover, the Bronco offense looked to capitalize.

If it wasn’t defensive pressure, the Broncos unselfish display of passing also lead to big time shots.

After a tough offensive rebound by Zach Haney, and another one of the same kind by Chris Sengfelder, the ball eventually swung over to sharp shooter Justinian Jessup.

This is one of Jessup’s five made three point shots on the night. He finished shooting 5-8 from beyond the arc.

Unselfish offensive play, and plays like these, were part of the reason why every Bronco that touched the court scored against the Rebels.
