Since Leon Rice took over the reigns of the Boise State men’s basketball team, the Broncos have made it to the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament two times.
In 2013 they loss to LaSelle 80-71, and to Dayton in dramatic and controversial fashion 56-55.
Tonight the Broncos have the opportunity to strengthen their resume even more as they face the 8-3 SMU Mustangs. SMU has had some quality victories this season including some against ranked opponents. Beating No. 23 Arizona and No. 14 TCU. As well as throttling USC.
A boost in Boise State’s strength of schedule.
Currently, the Broncos are 10-1, and are coming off of a quality victory against Grand Canyon University. Earlier this year they snapped Oregon’s 46 home game winning streak.
If Boise State wins tonight, it could very well set them up for another at-large berth if they don’t win the conference. (Expecting they do well in conference play this season)
As of right now, Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology projections has Boise State as one of the Last Four teams into the big dance.

He has them projected once again in an opening round against USC as an 11 seed. He has SMU as a 10 seed in the Midwest bracket.
Tonight you can watch the Broncos take on the Mustangs on ESPNU at 7PM MST.
