We have reached the end of the 2019-20 regular season in College Football.
Conference Championships are right around the corner. There’s a lot on the line for the teams fighting to get in the playoff, as well as for the Boise State Broncos, who can only control what’s in front of them: the Mountain West Championship.
The Broncos play Hawaii at Albertsons Stadium on Saturday December 7th at 2:00PM MT on ESPN.
We don’t know how the College Football Playoff Rankings will pan out until later, but what we do know is that Cincinnati lost to Memphis at Memphis on Friday, 34-24. Setting up a rematch against the two teams, once again in Memphis for the American Athletic Conference Championship.
Last week the rankings had Memphis out on top as the highest ranked Group of 5 team.
Scenarios For NY6 Bowl
With Cincinnati losing this past week, this will most likely move the Broncos ahead of the Bearcats in the rankings of the College Football Playoff. Remember, the highest ranked Group of 5 Conference Champion gets the NY6 spot for the Group of 5.
Here are some of the scenarios to look at heading into this game week.
Cincinnati wins AAC Championship
If Cincinnati beats Memphis for the Conference Championship, it will be up to the committee to choose between a 1-loss Boise State team (If they become MWC Champions) or 2-loss Cincinnati. The Bearcats two losses come against Ohio State and Memphis.
Memphis wins AAC Championship
That will be the nail in the coffin for Boise State’s chances at getting the NY6 bid. Memphis will be the highest ranked Group of 5 team and will be bowling in the Cotton Bowl.
Boise State wins MWC Championship
The Broncos can only control what’s in front of them, win the Mountain West Conference and let the chips fall where they may. Bronco Nation will be big Bearcat fans come Saturday, but don’t lose sight of the ultimate goal, becoming Conference Champions.
Boise State loses MWC Championship
Hopes and dreams of NY6 game are gone.
