Before the start of the workday on Wednesday, California Linebacker DJ Schramm signed on the dotted line to continue his football career and academic pursuits with the Broncos in Boise.
DJ Schramm’s high school football career came to a close last month when his Clovis West Golden Eagles fell in a 30-28 dogfight for a berth in their classification’s State Championship Game.
“I enjoyed my three years of varsity football, definitely have made lifelong friends,” Schramm told me on last month when we connected over Twitter.
Back on June, 13th Schramm announced he was fired up to commit to the Boise State Football program: thanking all the schools that recruited him, his family for being a tremendous help in his commitment decision, and the Boise State coaching staff for believing in his abilities and offering him a tremendous opportunity.

With his new opportunities on the horizon, Schramm said he was hoping to create a new experience in Boise and learn as much as he can from Boise State Head Coach Bryan Harsin and his staff.
Like Coach Harsin says, the ultimate goal is to win the Mountain West Conference Championship and a Bowl Game with class, integrity, and academic excellence. I also think that with our schedule in the upcoming years we have a great opportunity to make the playoff if we run the table.
He feels he has a good relationship with Harsin and hopes the Boise-native uses him “in any way that benefits the team.”
Schramm is also close with Andy Avalos, his future Defensive Coordinator. “He’ll (also) be my position coach and I’ll do whatever I need to in order to get on the field.”
DJ was quick to point out that he isn’t too concerned with individual goals at the moment:
The Fresno, CA product doesn’t want to say he models his game after anyone,”I just go out there and play,” though he does appreciate the great accomplishments of Boise State linebackers, past and present: “I hope to do the same.”
Schramm is planning on feeling right at home in the Treasure Valley:
Boise is a great town with a lot to offer, I love to fish and snowboard and hope to be able to fill my spare time with those activities.

Schramm is soft-spoken but brings a lot to the table through his tremendous work ethic and positive attitude:
I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a vocal leader, I tend to lead by what I do.
I finally asked the future-Bronco if there was something about him that Bronco Nation might find interesting, and while laughing he said:
“I don’t know how interesting (they) will find this, but I’m a huge baseball fan.”
DJ also held offers from the likes of Army, Air Force, Idaho State, Montana State, Northern Arizona, and San Jose State.
