Conference Media Picks Boise State Basketball To Finish Fourth

Media’s Opinion

The Boise State Men’s Basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West Conference during their preseason media event held today in Colorado Springs.

No Broncos were picked for any preseason honors such as; All-Conference team, player of the year, freshman of the year, and newcomer of the year.

Rank School (first-place votes) Points
1. Nevada (18) 207
2. San Diego State 188 (1)
3. New Mexico 153
4. Boise State  139
5. Fresno State 138
6. UNLV 122
7. Wyoming 88
8. Colorado State 80
9. Utah State 78
10. Air Force 42
11. San José State 19

Reality

Last year the Broncos finished second in the Mountain West Conference standings with a 13-5 mark. They had a 23-9 overall record.

They were picked by the media to finish third.

The Broncos, though, are not to be taken lightly. Being taken lightly by the rest of the conference is a good thing.

Head coach Leon Rice has a knack for developing talent that exceeds expectations. Many of his players have moved on to the next level of competition beyond college.

Four players will return who have had starting experience from last season. Justinian Jessup and Alex Hobbs are solid returning starters.

The regular season will start for the Broncos November 10 against Idaho State at the Taco Bell Arena.
