Three future Boise opponents ranked in current polls

Remember when Boise State went through that string of scheduling announcements?

During that string of scheduling, the Broncos announced match-ups with powerhouses like Florida State and Oklahoma State.

Needless to say, Bronco Nation was pumped. Then through out the announcements, Troy was put in there. Not going to lie, it kind of killed the mode. However, there is hope.

This weeks rankings have shown that the boys in blue could potentially play three ranked teams.

Currently, (20) Washington State, (25) Troy, and (24) San Diego State are all ranked. That doesn’t guarantee anything. A LOT can happen between this week and when we play. Still, this does make for some exciting news.

Washington State’s ranking is dependent upon a few factors. First, does Falk return? Early reports say yes.

However, we all know how foolish it is to depend on news like that this early. Secondly, how do they finish out the season? Since starting 0-2, the Cougars have won 8 straight and undefeated in Pac-12 play. Washington State is heading for quite the showdown in the Apple Cup against in-state rival Washington, who is currently having a program historic season.

Depending on who you are, and how close you’ve been paying attention, San Diego State’s rise in the polls isn’t surprising.

The Aztecs have been a pest to the Broncos and have been doing Rocky Long proud. San Diego State is sitting at 9-1 and have a win against Pac-12 opponent, Cal. All eyes will be on them as they head to Wyoming to face a very good Cowboy’s squad.

Troy is sitting at 8-1 and has also had a pretty impressive season. They started the season 1-1 and gave Clemson a scare early on losing only by 6 points to the Tigers.

The game against the Trojans is looking more and more interesting as they will most certainly be lead by Brandon Silvers who will be a senior next year. While Silver’s isn’t the best quarterback the Broncos will have faced, he is certainly a threat on some level to lead his team to 8-1 and give Clemson a scare.

A lot can happen between now and next season, but as it stands right now, Boise State could be playing three ranked teams. But right now, the Broncos have a few more test to pass before they can think of next season.
