Upsets and A Team I Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Really, Hope Loses

That Was The Week That Was

Last week’s upset predictions could have gone better but I’ll take what I got.

The Temple/UCF game could have gone either way right up until about five minutes remaining. In fact, Temple led at the half. As far as I was concerned, they could have ended the game then and sent everybody home.

Pitt took care of business at Virginia. That put me back in the genius column again. What, genius! Virginia always chokes in front of their fans.

And, oh yeah, the Boilermakers made the Hawkeyes believers in another upset over a ranked team. Where’s my gold star.

Okay, okay, Michigan is for real. I was certain of a Penn State upset in The Big House. No such thing. Take the gold star back.
And look what Bama did to LSU at Death Valley. They pitched a shutout, 29-zip. I was certain the Tigers would send Bama home without a dubya.

Notre Dame was not about to let me be crowned a genius prognosticator of upsets; They beat Northwestern.
As a bonus last week I looked at the SMU/Houston game. Houston was favored. I wrote an upset would not surprise me. SMU took it to Houston.

Just in case you’re wondering whether I’m a “stable genius” or not; before writing the last paragraph, I checked last weeks scores to make certain of my accuracy in this article. One of those IQ click bate banners came up on my screen. It said my IQ is 132 if I could get 10 of the 12 history questions correct. I aced it and went for three more and got ’em. There! I’m a genius (though stability is still in question) no matter how many upsets I missed last week.

This Weeks Picks

Georgia is a choker. They always have been. They can never take the pressure. So I think unranked Auburn beats number 6 Georgia.
As much as this may defile me, I’m picking a well-deserved unranked Oregon to upset 15th Utah. It’s not personal, Utah, it’s strictly business.

There are some things that just don’t make sense. One is Steven Seagal winning an Oscar and another is Kentucky beating Tennessee in football. Sure, it happens but not this week.

Here I go, out on the limb again. Oklahoma State in a big upset over Oklahoma. Are you “okay” with that one?

There’s one more but here’s a few I’d like to call but they’ve burned me in the past. There is no way Rutgers belongs on the same field with Michigan but one can only hope. I’d like to go for Wisconsin over Penn State but “not gonna do it. (Said in a George H W Bush voice.) And the Buckeyes have not been smellin’ so good lately. They play the Spartans in East Lansing.

The Best For Last

Here’s the top 25 team I really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really hope loses this week—Fresno State.

I thought last year was an anomaly but Jeff Tedford is the real deal when it comes to coaching.

I hope the “anomaly” comes to an end this Friday night.
