Over The Hill and Missing the Marks
Everybody has been wondering who the Broncos will hire to replace offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Zak Hill and running back coach Lee Marks. Hill went to Arizona State and Marks to Fresno State.
It is understandable why Hill headed to Arizona State ($$$$$$$) but Marks to Fresno? That’s a head-scratcher, or another location 24 inches south, down the backside. Nevertheless, that leaves two important coaching vacancies on Harsin’s staff.
Likely Bryan Harsin has already filled the positions and just trying to iron out the details. Or he may be shuffling through a stack of applications and interviewing.
However, let’s speculate. I think Eric Kiesau will be the next OC and quarterback coach. After all, he’s been an OC before and he played quarterback in his college days. Seems pretty logical to me.
Additionally, as of this date, Kiesau has not gone anyplace. I think he has the OC job.
Next RB Coach
D J Harper is currently the running back coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. He’s knocked around a couple of programs as a running back graduate assistant (Fresno and Boise).
He likely knows as much and more than most as any running back coach. Also D J would likely make twice as much by coaching for the Broncos.
Wide Receiver Coach?
If as speculated, Kiseu is promoted to OC and QB coach that leaves an opening for a wide receiver coach.
It would be kind of cool to poach Kirby Moore from Fresno. After all, they poached Marks.
Anyone For A Romance Novel?
There is a romantic and nostalgic notion about graduated players returning to their old programs and try to recreate the success they had during their glory years. However let’s leave that for paperback writers.
Harsin lives in the real world; he’ll hire the best-qualified coach he can get.
